In honor of my daughter’s birthday, this is a photo of everyone drinking sugar cane juice. In true fashion, the glasses were cracked and chipped. As you can see, it was winter. If it had been summer, I think it would have been much more refreshing.

Everywhere we went in southeast Asia, vendors were selling cut sugar cane with a sweet sticky rice in the center. It was delicious. We were tuk tuking through a village near Angkor Wat in Cambodia when we stopped to watch this husband and wife preparing the snack to be sold. |
