Here is yet another attempt at HDR. I think this looks like a copper plate relief. I like the effect, but I’m not sure that it doesn’t lose some of the details of the harbour. What do you think?

We didn’t spend much time in Gibraltar, just enough to drive over the “rock” and catch the ferry to Morocco. We did this in December, and the crossing was extremely nauseating. We only did a one-day tour in Tunis, and it was northern Africa at its best. I do have a neat photo of a Barbary Ape for you to take a look at. We enjoyed our small amount of time here. Have you been? What do you think?
HDR is so beautiful on stone buildings. It brings out enough of the crevices and cracks to make it look even more stony. I like this shot, because the men are there, but they are not really the focus of the shot, they’re extras. It looks like such an inviting place to sit, have a cay, and chat away the afternoon.
One thing HDR photography does is make the photo look like it’s painted. This photo seems like it could come straight out of an illustrated book. I like the effect on some animals, and in this case I think it works. What do you think? This is one of my first giraffe photos while in Zambia…they’re not as easy to capture as I would have thought!
HDR photo-processing lends itself better to certain kinds of photography. I like it for showing people who are working. It seems it adds a texture to the photo that shows how hard-working the subjects are. This photo was taken on a 4WD tour of the desert around Dubai. We were flying through and had a minimum of a 13 hour layover, so we extended it to the full weekend and did a tour. It was tons of fun.
I’m enjoying learning how to use HDR and trying to make my photos more artsy. I think I definitely lean towards being more of a documentary type of photographer; I want to capture the moment, the culture. However, I’m really starting to see how HDR can enhance the mood of a photograph. In this shot, the couple are happy to have their photo taken, and you can tell they are hard-working folks on their way to market. The HDR lends a “wrinkled” effect and I think for this shot it’s good to emphasize how labor-intensive their lives must be. [...] Continue reading Photo Art – Happy Horsecart Couple |
