Last summer I went to the Oklahoma State Stockyards. Fascinating! We sat in the arena where they paraded the cattle and tried to figure out what was going on. Luckily the folks there were as friendly as can be and a couple pulled us aside (as obvious outsiders) and explained various parts of the [...] Continue reading Photo Art – The Stockyard Pockets
I love this shot. What a radish! It’s almost longer than she is. We pulled up in our Mitsubishi van to watch the pickings, and this lady got all excited, picked up the boss radish and ran our way. So much fun. It’s hard to say if it’s a portrait of the lady or [...] Continue reading Portrait of a Daikon Picker
We visited Singapore a few years ago and recently I ran into three travelers from there. They told me that the city has changed considerably. I’m sure it’s still clean, but now there’s a whole new crop of amazing building and skylines to photograph. I can’t wait to go back. [...] Continue reading Things that make me Happy – Clean Metro Stations
We were in Valparaiso during the Chilean winter, so the beaches were near deserted. However, It didn’t stop this biscuit seller from hawking his wares. I love going to beaches when it’s chilly outside and the only people there are the dog walkers and the hard core beachcombers. It’s much more preferable to the [...] Continue reading Food Day – A Beach Snack
Egypt is full of World Heritage sites and adventure. I love that this one, Abu Simbel, combines the two. Just getting to the site is quite the adventure. You can fly, which gets you there early in the morning, and you actually are finished and leaving before the other tourists get there, or you [...] Continue reading World Heritage Site Day – Abu Simbel
Do you remember the Sesame Street song, “One of these things is not like the other?” I think it’s a great photography theme. I’m always searching out shots like this! I also love that the gemsboks are just going about their business, but the zebra knows I’m there and is paying attention to my [...] Continue reading Nature – The Odd Zebra
I’m putting together a photo book on portraits of Turkey like the one of this woman from Cappadocia. Turkey is such a photogenic country and nowadays there are not many people who don’t like to get their photos taken. In fact, many ask to have their photos taken. [...] Continue reading Portrait of a Cappadocian Woman

A day trip from Xian is the site of the famous Terra Cotta Warriors. It’s amazing how you can tell it’s a tourist spot with all the vendors outside of the ticket booths. Inside the complex there are three pavilions filled with trenches. In some of the trenches there still stands some of the [...] Continue reading Wednesday is World Heritage Day – Xian Warriors |
