There are three different types of booby in the Galapagos, and they are all easily observed and photographed. This is a red-footed booby, and the colors on her are just gorgeous. I love the blue and pink of her beak.

As landscapes go, this is one of my favorite shots of all time. I love the layers of color and lush lime green of new spring growth. I took this shot on my way to the airport in Lhasa, Tibet. What is really interesting, and of course you cannot tell from this shot is, [...] Continue reading Landscape – Tibet Spring
One of the things I love about this shot is the symmetry between the two herons. The gray one is slightly further back than the white one, so it’s not in as sharp of focus. Trying to hand-hold a long lens while on a safari boat on the Chobe River is pretty difficult, but [...] Continue reading Nature – Chobe River Herons
What’s better than flies swarming around a big bull of a water buffalo? No, it certainly isn’t pretty, but I’m still super happy with the shot. It doesn’t get more real than this. This shot was taken on a self-drive through Botswana. Loved it. Read more about our self-drive and Botswana here. [...] Continue reading Nature Isn’t Always Pretty!
I photographed this guy on Taiaroa Head in New Zealand. It was mid-summer there and the grass is green; the flowers are blooming, and I think he just seems out of place. Jim and I walked down a beach and there were plenty of seals just sunbathing the whole time we [...] Continue reading Nature of the Seal
Taking landscapes of the African savanna, I love it when there is a stand of baobob trees. They are huge and cast wonderful shadows. The silhouette of one against the bright blue sky is just breathtaking. I never did get any at sunset, but it’s on my list of photos to take….sometime!
[...] Continue reading Hugging the Sky – Baobobs!
This is my favorite Alaskan flower. I love the fireweed. In early fall, there are fields and fields of it, and the beautiful fushia color just brightens up the landscape. In the deep of winter, I like looking at photos like this to bring a little color into my day. [...] Continue reading Fireweed
You just can’t take a bad picture in southern Africa. You just can’t. If you put yourself in the right place there are just endless possibilities. Watching the wildlife go about their daily business is quite awe-inspiring. These macaques entertained us for quite some time as we sat eating our lunch. Going on [...] Continue reading Nature in Namibia |
