This flower reminds me of something you would see in a Dr. Seuss cartoon. I love the roundness. Who could be living on it?

This statue, although large, is very difficult to photograph. It seems the sun never quite rose in the sky completely leaving long shadows. I took a three exposure HDR and I think it turned out quite well. I like the colors; I like the stone look, etc. What do you think? [...] Continue reading Photo Art – Statue of the Explorers
This photo represents one of the coolest things we did while in Mongolia. Here we were not far from the middle of nothing, and our hostess asks us if we would like to hear a throat singer. Well, yes, but where? No worries, he’ll come to your ger and he’ll bring his nieces who [...] Continue reading Portrait – Mongolian Musician
We lived in central Europe in the late eighties when the Berlin Wall fell taking with it all of Eastern Europe. That’s when we fell in love with the iconic East German Trabant. A 2 cyclinder cutie, that’s what it is. Jim and I were thrilled to walk by one in Budapest a few [...] Continue reading Things That Make Me Happy – The Trabi
This sunset photo was taken in the evening when the sun just started to sink. Traveling at the end of November has its challenges with few daylight hours, but at least you’re still out and about when the sun begins to set. This is a handheld shot, and the bus was ready to go, [...] Continue reading Landscape – Kurki Cathedral, Moldova
A fantastic place to take a day trip to, if you happen to be in Northern Ireland, don’t miss this spectacular site. The Giant’s Causeway has it all…a legend, fantastic geometric shapes, gorgeous scenery, and lots of hiking paths if you have the time. We took the bus to the beginning of the interesting [...] Continue reading World Heritage Sites – Giant’s Causeway
One of the things I love about this shot is the symmetry between the two herons. The gray one is slightly further back than the white one, so it’s not in as sharp of focus. Trying to hand-hold a long lens while on a safari boat on the Chobe River is pretty difficult, but [...] Continue reading Nature – Chobe River Herons
Traipsing around Portugal, we came upon a number of bright red trees. On closer inspection, it looked like something had stripped the trees of all of their bark and left some sort of red residue. Even though it made for some stunning shots, I think it’s some sort of really destructive parasite and that [...] Continue reading Art Day – HDR of a Red, Red Tree |
